Evaluation og TFCO in Denmark
Participants:
Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) is a 9-12 month, systemic treatment for young people with severe behavioral and/or emotional problems in school, at home or in general. The treatment is conducted by a TFCO organization and consists of a psychosocial intervention. The intervention initially place the youth with a TFCO-trained foster family. And during the program, a professional TFCO team provides 24-hour support to the foster family, the youth and its primary caregivers. The purpose of the program is to reduce behavior and emotional problems, so the youth can move back in with the primary caregivers or live by him or herself. Currently, we do not have an overview of how many families have received or completed the program, the type of youth and families who receive TFCO, or how the youth who received TFCO progress after treatment. With this research project we will answer some of these questions via two evaluation designs. Firstly, we will describe background characteristics and problems for the families and youth who have received TFCO, and look at the youth's development before and after treatment. Secondly, we will conduct qualitative interviews with selected participants to investigate youth, families and foster families perspectives on treatment. The results of the evaluation will be published early 2018.
