Project 1. JAN 2018 - 31. DEC 2020
Pilot study of interventions SeSam-LS and SeSam-CLASS
Participants:
Several studies show that the teacher is the largest single factor that is important for students' learning at school. Researchers from the Metropol College of Applied Sciences now study how systematic knowledge about the beneficial effect of supervision can be achieved, thus contributing to the creation of skilled teachers that help the students in primary and lower secondary schools to become as capable as they can.
The study is funded by Trygfonden and aims to test the organization and implementation of an upcoming major study of video-supported supervision in further education. The pilot project is being carried out by the Metropol University of Applied Sciences with sparring from experts from respectively TrygFonden Children's Research Center, Aarhus University and VIVE - The Danish Center for Social Science Research.
This pilot study must test 3 approaches to professional development through the use of video of educational situations at school. What the three approaches have in common is that video record-ings are used as a basis for a conversation. Conversations may have different grades, such as spar-ring, coaching, guidance, etc. Similarly, there will be a different focus on what video is recorded and what about things that are discussed in the three approaches. In some of the approaches there will be an element of written communication, ie. things to write down before and /or after oral conversations, which are also done by phone or equivalent.
The target group is Danish and math teachers in the 6th grade.
VIVE's contribution to the project is to advise and spar about the practical execution of the pilot project and experience sections with Metropol employees in relation to follow-up project coordination.
