A new programme for Danish parents with children with ADHD and ADHD-like difficulties is being offered by the ADHD association. The association has developed a parent-training programme called "Love in Chaos" in which volunteers help the parents of children with ADHD, who have a particularly difficult task to raise their children. This report aims at examining the effect of the parent programme for these parents and their children. A total of 322 parents and 161 children participated in the survey, which is the most comprehensive impact measurement so far of parent training in Denmark. The survey shows that parents who participated in the programme experience that they improve their parenting competences. They become more satisfied with their role as parents and have greater confidence in their own parenting abilities. It also means that they change the way they raise their children. The increased self-confidence of parents in their role as parents has several rub-off effects. For example, fewer conflicts arise if parents make demands on their children. The results of this report are interesting for professionals, treatment providers, teachers, decision-makers, volunteers, organisations, associations and the many current and future families struggling daily with behavioural difficulties such as ADHD. This impact measurement was financed by TrygFonden.
