The purpose of this survey is to procure knowledge about political and religious anti-democratic and extremist environments in Denmark. This means environments with views that may conflict with democratic forms of government and ideals about tolerance, and which are prone to bypassing democratic procedures to make these views applicable. The survey analyses three environments with a total of 15 groupings which are either far right, far left or Islamist. The 15 groups were from all over Denmark. All of the groups disapprove of violent and criminal actions, however, some individuals linked to these environments do not recoil from using such actions. Recruitment for these groups is primarily through personal relations and networks, as well as the internet. As the survey is a snapshot, it is not possible to conclude whether the individual groups are growing or declining. The survey was commissioned and financed by the Ministry of Children, Gender Equality, Integration and Social Affairs.
