Labour Market
Labour Market
The study analyses the motivation to work and the flexibility of unemployed individuals who are assessed to be ready for the labour market. Businesses and social workers have also been asked how they experience the motivation of this group of unemployed.
Most of the unemployed interviewed want a job. Most want a job quickly and are searching actively. But at the same time, most of the unemployed have requirements as to what kind of job they want, and which conditions of work they will accept. For instance, very few are willing to move or accept long commutes.
Businesses report that at least two thirds of the unemployed who are referred by the public employment service (AF) are motivated for employment.
The social workers report that the majority of the unemployed who are assessed to be ready for the labour market in both the local authority system and in the AF system are motivated for work. But they point out that there is a "heavy” group of unemployed who have difficulties finding work and who have significant motivation problems.
