In the Paper it is argued that the improved performance of the Danish Labour Market may in part be due to the Danish Unemployment Insurance System (UI), which was reformed in 1994. - Denmark has experienced a remarkable constant fall in unemployment from more than 10 per cent in 1993 to a little more than 4 per cent in 2000. Simultaneously, countries such as Sweden, Germany and France have had stagnant or even increasing unemployment levels until 1997.
