For a number of years, growth in the specialised social field has been relatively high, seen in relation to growth in society in general as well as in relation to total expenditure on the social field. This report investigates how various factors affect activities in the specialised social field. The report examines the effect of developments in the needs of the population, changes in professional practices, technological improvements and new political-administrative definitions and initiatives on increases in expenditure on the specialised social field.
The purpose of the survey is to describe the growth factors in the specialised social field to make it more possible to control developments and plan interventions. The report presents data which makes it possible to target interventions in the specialised social field in order to better solve problems and draw benefits from funds allocated to the field.
The survey is based on data such as population growth, developments in services and needs etc. from Statistics Denmark, the Danish National Centre for Social Research, the Centre for Psychiatric Research, etc.
The survey was previously published on the websites of Local Government Denmark and the Danish National Centre for Social Research, but it has now been published in a new, revised and extended version. This survey was commissioned and funded by Local Government Denmark.
