This report presents the results of the sixth nationwide survey of homelessness. The survey has been conducted every other year since 2007.
The report gives a picture of the scope and development of homelessness and of the geographical distribution by urban area, region and municipality. The survey also identifies the demographic and social profile of the homeless in relation to gender, age, ethnic background and health.
The survey reveals that homelessness in Denmark is still increasing. In 2017 the number of homeless was 6,635; an increase of 8% compared with 2015. At the same time, the study reveals that the percentage of homeless people, assessed to have a mental illness, is also increasing. In 2017, professional estimated that more than half of the homeless also have a mental illness.
The survey was conducted at the request of the Ministry of Children and Social Affairs.
