This publication is a summary report of the project "ERIS - The role of students in the inclusive school environment". The project aimed partly at analysing various aspects of inclusion and inclusion initiatives, and partly at developing and testing new inclusion initiatives which, on the basis of the roles of students themselves, benefit student learning and well-being. The inclusion initiatives were tested at eight Danish schools during January and February 2015. The initial experience from the initiatives and analyses of data show that it is possible to create a more inclusive school environment. Some of the most important factors in doing this, are a well-functioning collaboration between school and the home, clear management, and general clarity as to what is going on and how to treat each other at school. Another factor is to have methods which, in different ways, give students an active role in relation to creating an inclusive learning environment to benefit student learning and well-being. This project was commissioned and financed by the Danish Ministry of Education.
