This study describes sheltered housing facilities for people with mental deficiency, and sheltered housing facilities for people with a mental disorder in the Region of Southern Denmark as well as the social-educational methods used by these sheltered housing facilities. The report also describes any international evidence found of the effect of these methods, or any evaluations in Denmark of their effect. Finally, the report discusses, from the perspective of southern Denmark, the options for introducing methods that solve the same problems at less cost. The aim of the study is purely descriptive and the statement of methods is based on the sheltered housing facilities' own information in the web-based Social Services Portal (Tilbudsportalen) and on a questionnaire survey of managers of sheltered housing facilities in the Region of Southern Denmark. Generally, the study shows that the sheltered housing facilities use a large number of different methods. Most of the methods are specific for one of the two areas. Only in a few cases where there Danish or international evaluations and impact measurements of the methods.
