In January 2012, the Municipality of Næstved launched a rehabilitation project called “Practice Makes Perfect” at all its care centres. The objective of the programme was to help the residents become more self-reliant and thereby increase their quality of life. This report assesses the project.
The “Practice Makes Perfect” training programme is adapted to the individual and runs for a maximum of 16 weeks. During this period, individuals practice a number of skills they have chosen themselves. For example be able to shower or eat without assistance.
The ASCOT (Adult Social Care Outcomes Toolkit) was used to assess the project. On the basis of ASCOT, the project assessment focuses on how the project has affected the residents’ care-dependent quality of life.
The assessment is based on structured interviews with, and observations of, 15 residents before and after participation in the “Practice Makes Perfect” programme. It is also based on qualitative interviews with a number of residents, staff and relatives of residents at the participating care centres.
