This is the third sub-report in a series of reports from the dialogue project about municipal preventive measures. This report describes five specific initiatives which, in different ways, carry out preventive measures for 5-9-year-olds.
The five initiatives vary from day schools to initiatives for the entire family and to after-school leisure activities a couple of times a week. Despite this great variation, municipal initiatives, treatment providers and participating families are assessed to have accomplished positive results. Children become more self-confident, gain better social relations and obtain better possibilities of joining both ordinary schools and the leisure time system on an equal footing with their peers.
The objective of the project is to acquire and systematise knowledge about municipal practices, experience and results in relation to preventive work with vulnerable children and young people.
The project is to result in a catalogue of examples of good practice to be disseminated to municipalities in Denmark, so that they will be more qualified to provide the relevant support and help for vulnerable children and young people. The project has been commissioned by the National Board of Social Services and conducted by the Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) collaboratively with Cowi A/S..
