The Danish National Centre for Social Research has surveyed research on daycare facilities for 0-6 year-olds in Scandinavia in 2013 and subsequently assessed the quality of the studies. The purpose is to ensure more extensive use of high-quality research on daycare facilities. In 2013, 82 studies of institution facilities for 0-6 year-olds were registered. This is at par with the number of studies found relevant in the past three years. Among other things, research in 2013 confirmed the increasing use of the ethnographic research design from 2006 to 2012. Furthermore, the number of studies in 2013 assessed to be of medium research quality is identical to the development from 2008 to 2012. The number of studies in 2013 assessed to be of high quality is the lowest in the period from 2006-2013, whereas the number of studies assessed to be of low research quality is the highest over the same period. The report is to make relevant research more accessible to political decision-makers, researchers and practitioners, such as pedagogical consultants, managers at daycare facilities and teachers on pedagogical education programmes.
