This is the second sub-report in a series of reports about social services in substance abuse treatment in Denmark. This series is based on a comprehensive survey carried out in the period December 2007 to May 2009. This sub-report deals with the role of social services in substance abuse treatment from the perspective of users and their relatives. The other sub-reports cover the following areas: the perspective of voluntary organisations (part 1); treatment programmes and methods (part 3); improving quality and quality standards (part 4); assessment and case work (part 5); and results of the treatment (part 6). The main conclusions from these sub-reports are pooled in the main report. The study was commissioned and funded by the National Board of Social Services.
