This report is about young people in Greenland, about their life, their experiences and their thoughts, focusing particularly on sexuality and sexual abuse. The study shows that many young people have been subjected to sexual abuse. It also points towards a clear relationship between sexual abuse and a number of known problems among young people. The purpose of the study is to increase knowledge about the occurrence of sexual abuse of children as well as knowledge about the nature of abuse and its impact on the victims. The knowledge obtained will be used in work on preventing sexual abuse of children. The basis for the study is questionnaires completed by a representative sample of young people from 18 to 25 years old, telephone interviews with selected young people as well as register data from Statistics Greenland.
