The article studies the prevalence of at-risk, problem and pathological gamblers among adult Danes. Based on a nation-wide survey applying the NODS-screening tool, the percentage of the different categories of gamblers with some problems within the last year were 1.85, 0.23 and 0.134, respectively. The questions most frequently yielding positive replies were about returning to win after having lost money, and having periods spending much time on making plans for future gambling. Also the question about gambling for more and more money to keep the same excitement and lying to family members about one’s gambling behaviour were often positively replied to among problem and pathologi-cal gamblers. Finally, it is more likely to be a problem gambler among young people, men, singles, and people with low and medium incomes than among their counterparts.
