Allu is an accommodation programme for six Greenlandic young people, aged between 12 and 18 years, who have been placed in care. The accommodation programme has existed since 2014 and is part of the larger institution, the Mælkebøtte Centre, located in Nuuk.
The purpose of Allu is to offer vulnerable young people a family-like home with a regular everyday structure, and to provide them with the opportunity to maintain contact with their families and any resources they may have in their background environment. The goal is for the young people to become more capable of living independently, both in private and on the labour market.
This evaluation describes the conditions at Allu and assesses its significance for the young people living there. The evaluation includes descriptions of how the young people living at Allu develop, and how the settings and pedagogy at Allu support the well-being and development of the young people.
The evaluation was commissioned and financed by the Mælkebøtte Centre.
