In 2004 the Danish government launched an employment strategy for disabled people. The aim of the strategy was to get more people with disabilities into the labour market through information and initiatives to change attitudes.
This report surveys employment developments for people with disabilities or long-term health problems, and looks at whether awareness of various employment programmes has grown, and if there has been a change in the attitudes of people working with disabled people.
The survey shows that more people with disabilities have found employment since the strategy was launched. People with disabilities are more aware of the scheme on priority access to job interviews, whereas their knowledge of the possibility of getting a flex-job and a personal assistant is the same.
This survey was funded by the National Labour Market Authority. It is based on information from almost 38,000 people interviewed in connection with Statistics Denmark’s Labour Force Survey in 2002, 2005 and 2008, and on register-based information from Statistics Denmark.
