This report presents and analyses the results of a number of qualitative interviews on inclusion with primary and lower secondary school pupils. The purpose of the report is to investigate pupils’ experiences in connection with the transition towards increased inclusion following the changes to the Act on primary and lower secondary education in 2012.

Pupils’ experiences of inclusion are examined from two points of view. Firstly pupils who have been transferred from special needs education to a regular classroom, and secondly the classmates of these transferred pupils and other pupils with special needs.

The interviews were carried out as part of the research project entitled "Inklusionspanelet" (the inclusion panel). The project was launched by the then Ministry of Children and Education, and researchers from the Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) and the Danish University of Education at the University of Aarhus (DPU) followed work on inclusion by public primary and lower secondary schools during the 2013/14-2015/16 academic years.
