La responsabilidad social de las empresas

The Study The Danish National Institute of Social Research is currently conducting a research pro-gramme on corporate social responsibility. The present study forms part of this programme. Considering the profound changes in the economic models and in the pressures facing welfare states, a sustainable and balanced economic development appears to require some kind of welfare mix. Empirically, social systems in Latin America as well as in Western Europe have undergone alterations over the past decades. In Latin America, there has been a tendency to transfer responsibilities to the civil society while in Western Europe the transfer has involved both the civil society and the enterprises. This essay outlines the motives of the European Union to involve enterprises in the social policy. An outline of the policies and the instruments applied is given.
