This report analyses living conditions for a wide group of disability pensioners, focusing on their everyday life. Furthermore, the report identifies a group of disability pensioners who want more social interaction and activity in their everyday life.
The survey shows that the group of disability pensioners studied is very heterogenous with regard to social exclusion and social marginalisation. The survey also shows that just over one-fifth of disability pensioners can be considered part of a particularly marginalised group.
Furthermore, the survey shows that just under one-quarter of disability pensioners in the group wants a more active existence with permanent interests and activities. This means that there is a target group of about 37,000 disability pensioners who might be interested in participating in local integration projects in municipalities.
The survey shows that marginalised disability pensioners, just as much as more socially inclusive pensioners, would like to have more permanent activities in their everyday life. Based on in-depth interviews the survey concludes, however, that many people need a helping hand to get started with socially inclusive activities.
The survey is based on 1,753 replies to a questionnaire, as well as seven qualitative interviews. The project has been commissioned and financed by the Danish Pensions Agency.
