This report presents calculations of pay differentials between men and women in industry. Focus is on employees who have manual work, or who operate machinery or work as fitters. The objective of the study is to form the basis for debate on the causes of wage differences between the two genders among these employees within different industrial areas. The study is based on register data from 2011 and it includes employees in the food and tobacco industry, the textile industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the electronics industry and the furniture industry. The study shows that women consistently receive a lower hourly rate than men in the area.
