This is the fourth sub-report in a series of reports from the dialogue project about municipal preventive measures. This report describes four specific initiatives which, in different ways, include preventive measures for 10-13-year-olds.
The four initiatives vary from day schools to initiatives for the entire family and to after-school leisure activities. Despite the great variation, all the people connected to the different initiatives assess their most important job to be to avoid isolating the children. There is great focus on the positive sides of the children and targeted work is being done to give the children more self-confidence and to strengthen their social relations and networks.
The objective of the project is to acquire and systematise knowledge about municipal practices, experience and results in relation to preventive work with vulnerable children and young people. The project is to result in a catalogue of examples of good practice, to be disseminated to municipalities in Denmark, so they will be more qualified to provide relevant support and help to vulnerable children and young people.
The project has been commissioned by the National Board of Social Services and conducted by the Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) collaboratively with Cowi A/S.
