Labour Market
Labour Market
Since 1999 the Danish National Institute of Social Research has conducted an annual study of changes in how accommodating the labour market is towards disadvantaged groups and of the social performance of businesses. The objective of the annual reports is to shed light on how businesses attempt to prevent exclusion from the labour market and to integrate individuals who, for various reasons, have difficulties obtaining employment. This report examines employees’ experiences with and attitudes toward the social performance of their workplace.
The study, financed by the Danish Ministry of Employment, shows that 83% of employees today have a positive opinion about employing people with other ethnic backgrounds than Danish. This figure was only 47% in 1999. The report also shows that those employed on special terms are generally satisfied with their working conditions, but that one in three still feel that their employers should do more to develop their professional qualifications.
