More than 20 per cent of the Danish working age population is provided for by some form of public income transfer. The goal of the present government is that enterprises should employ more of these persons: Enterprises should become more socially responsible. The paper analyses enterprises employment of the long term unemployed, the disabled and persons with a reduced capacity for work in the Danish formal and informal schemes. The results are discussed from two braos theoretical perspectives on enterprise behavior: Rational choice and Culture.
