This report is a study of the trends in voluntary work in Denmark from 2004-2012. The study is a follow-up of a population survey from 2004 which was the first extensive documentation of voluntary work by Danes. The study shows that voluntary work in Denmark is very stable. One in three Danes carried out voluntary work in 2012 and this figure is almost the same as in 2014. The figures describing the overall stability in the population's participation in voluntary work conceal trends towards change. The percentage of volunteers has fallen slightly in the younger age groups. On the other hand, the percentage of volunteers has increased slightly in the older age groups. Traditionally, more men than women have worked as volunteers. However, there is a tendency that the difference between participation in voluntary work by the two genders is becoming smaller and perhaps is about to turn. Furthermore, there is a tendency that the correlation between education and voluntary work has become slightly greater. With regard to the organisation of voluntary work, the study shows that the classic membership model, in which the majority of voluntary work is carried out by volunteers who are also members of the organisation for which they work, is changing. The report is a collaboration between SFI - The Danish National Centre for Social Research and Aalborg University. - See more at: http://www.sfi.dk/publications-4844.aspx?Action=1&NewsId=4396&PID=10056#sthash.DJs0ZJRO.dpuf
