This report deals with perceptions of masculinity among men from ethnic minorities. Based on interviews with 16 men with ethnic-minority backgrounds, as well as on new literature in the field, the report provides insights into how ethnic-minority men perceive and perform their role as fathers, sons and husbands. The study shows great variation. The men combine elements from both their country of origin and Denmark in creating new masculinities.
The study is a pilot study and the report is intended as an introduction to some of the topics and problems related to being an ethnic-minority male.
The report was prepared by Tina Gudrun Jensen and Anika Liversage, researchers at SFI – The Danish National Centre for Social Research.
