Lønspredningen på det danske arbejdsmarked

Inequality of pay on the Danish labour market is measured by the wage dispersion. From 1951 to 1970 the net movement of the coefficient of variation was nil, but in the last decade the inequality has been reduced by one third. A decomposition shows countervailing movements in the inequality among and within major groups up to 1970. In recent years the reduction of inequality within groups has been the driving force, and the trend towards equality does not appear from the statistics of average wages.
